Alternative Therapy for Lung Cancer: High Dose Vitamin C

Case study report date: 08/04/2025 - By Dr Hamad.

Main symptoms at presentation:

  • Stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) diagnosed 6 years ago, initially treated with surgery/chemo/radiotherapy but relapsed years later. Scan on March 2024 showed lung and liver secondary tumours, including bone metastases.

  • Weight loss, loss of appetite and progressive pain in his hips from tumour metastases.

Past illnesses:

  • Heart attack in 2005, had stents inserted.

Prescription medication:

  • Bisoprolol, Monomial Xl, Rosuvastatin, Aspirin after the heart attack.

Diet and supplements: Lifelong vegan.

COVID-19 vaccination status: Unvaccinated.

Timeline of Events and therapies received prior to attending Leicester Ozone Clinic:

  • 2018: Lung cancer diagnosis: traditional care with surgery/chemo/radiotherapy given.

  • 2020: He accessed another alternative therapy clinic and received medium doses of vitamin c (25 grams - exact number of doses is unknown) along with other dietary changes and nutritional supplementation aiming at improving his immune system and antioxidant defences.

  • 2023: Cancer relapsed, further scans revealed progression in size of metastasis. He declined further chemotherapy / radiotherapy. A decision was made not to offer him a new immunotherapy that belong to drugs called Tyrosine kinase inhibitors. These drugs are only offered to non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with mutations in the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene. His cancer was not suitable for this.

Therapy received from Leicester Ozone Clinic and therapeutic response:

  • 14 May 2024 - 25 Jul 2024: Started high dose vitamin c from Leicester Ozone Clinic which continued until 25 Jul 2024, He received 8 doses at twice a week frequency then switched to once a week for another 6 doses.  After the initial titration of the dose he reached a dose of 60 grams.

  • After the initial few session it was noticeable that the patient was improving: he gained weight, his appetite has improved and the bone pain in his hip has completed resolved by the end of his therapy with Leicester Ozone Clinic.

  • In the last week of his therapy with our clinic and despite declining him the Tyrosine kinase inhibitors on the NHS (see above), the patient managed to source one of the drugs that belong to this group (Osimertinib 80mg) privately from abroad. He started to self medicate with it under supervision of oncologists from India. It is worth noting that his clinical improvement started well before starting the oral therapy.

  • 17 August 2024: A scan was done which revealed a dramatic reduction in the size of the tumour in lungs, liver and bones compared to an earlier scan in May 2024. The scan (copy below) confirms a reduction in the lung mass (42 mm in May to 22 mm in August) and the liver lesions (10 cm in May to 3.7 cm in August) with healing of all the bone metastases. â€‹

  • 07 April 2025: email contact made with the patient. He indicated that he is still enjoying good health and he is being monitored by the hospital. He remains on the tyrosine kinase inhibitors Osimertinib now prescribed by the NHS.

  • 27 June 2025: Patient made contact asking to resume vitamin c. Unfortunately the last 2 scans show progression of lesions. The patient has been off vitamin c from July 2024 and he continued on the prescription of Osimertinib from oncology. `despite this the tumour progressed.  â€‹

  • 01 July 2025: The patient came today to resume his vitamin c, started on 60grams. He is still on Osimertinib. We checked the lesion in the liver, which is measures 38x22mm on the scan (above). When measured today (3 weeks after the scan) in the clinic using out ultrasound machine, see photo, it measured about 41mm. Looking at the past scans it seems that the liver metastasis grow at a rate of 1mm/week on Osimertinib.  Next measurement will be taken in 4 weeks time (8 doses of vitamin c). Patient will also start the Alkalisation protocol.

  • 07 July 2025: The patient came today for his 3rd high dose i.v vitamin c.  Out of interest we scanned his liver again to see the effect of 2 doses of IVC on the lesion (above). The lesion appears to have become smaller by a few millimetres, now measuring 37mm, a week ago it was 41mm. Too early to confirm reduction in size but certainly interesting. Today we managed to measure another larger lesion adjacent to the first lesion, which measures 58 mm. We will continue to monitor both lesions with scans.
